Biochemical Imbalances in Diabetes

Diabetes leads to various biochemical imbalances, significantly affecting metabolism and overall health. Insulin deficiency or resistance results in elevated blood glucose levels, prompting the body to rely on fat metabolism for energy. This shift can cause alterations in lipid profiles, including increased triglycerides and decreased HDL cholesterol. Additionally, electrolyte imbalances, particularly involving potassium, magnesium, and sodium, can occur due to osmotic diuresis and hormonal changes. Monitoring and correcting these biochemical imbalances are essential for preventing complications, optimizing glycemic control, and maintaining metabolic health in diabetic individuals.
