Cell-Free DNA Markers in Diabetes

Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) has emerged as a potential biomarker for various diseases, including diabetes. Elevated levels of cfDNA in the bloodstream can reflect tissue damage and inflammation associated with diabetes-related complications. Studies indicate that measuring cfDNA could provide insights into the extent of metabolic dysregulation and help identify individuals at higher risk for complications such as cardiovascular disease and neuropathy. Additionally, analyzing the methylation patterns of cfDNA may reveal unique epigenetic signatures associated with diabetes progression. This non-invasive biomarker holds promise for improving diabetes management and facilitating early intervention strategies aimed at reducing complications.
