Endocrine Disorders in Diabetes

Endocrine disorders are closely linked with diabetes, a chronic condition that affects the body’s ability to regulate blood sugar. In diabetes, the endocrine system's dysfunction primarily involves the pancreas, which produces insufficient insulin or the body becomes resistant to insulin’s effects. This results in high levels of glucose in the bloodstream. Moreover, diabetes increases the risk of other endocrine disorders such as thyroid dysfunction, adrenal insufficiency, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Thyroid disorders, especially hypothyroidism, are common in people with diabetes and can further complicate blood sugar management. Early diagnosis and integrated management of these endocrine disorders are crucial to prevent complications and ensure optimal health in diabetic patients.
