Free Fatty Acid Clearance in Diabetes

Elevated levels of free fatty acids (FFAs) are commonly observed in individuals with diabetes, contributing to insulin resistance and impaired glucose metabolism. In a healthy metabolic state, insulin promotes the clearance of FFAs from the bloodstream. However, in diabetes, this process becomes dysregulated, leading to increased lipolysis and fat accumulation in non-adipose tissues. Strategies to enhance FFA clearance, such as dietary modifications and pharmacological agents that improve lipid metabolism, may help mitigate insulin resistance and promote better glycemic control. Improving FFA clearance is essential for managing diabetes and reducing associated complications.
