Insulin Resistance Syndrome

Insulin Resistance Syndrome, often associated with Type 2 diabetes, is a condition where the body’s cells become less responsive to insulin, a hormone essential for regulating blood sugar levels. This resistance leads to higher blood glucose levels, prompting the pancreas to produce more insulin. Over time, this can result in metabolic complications, including obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, collectively referred to as metabolic syndrome. Factors contributing to insulin resistance include sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits, and genetic predisposition. Addressing insulin resistance involves lifestyle changes such as regular physical activity, a balanced diet rich in whole foods, and weight management. Early intervention is crucial, as controlling insulin resistance can help prevent the progression to Type 2 diabetes and reduce the risk of associated health complications.
