Title : Enhancing diabetes care in schools: Overcoming challenges, implementing strategies, and improving student well-being

Abstract:

As a person living with type 1 diabetes, I understand firsthand the daily complexities of managing this condition—especially within environments not always designed to support it. For children and adolescents, school is one of those critical settings where effective diabetes care can significantly impact both health and learning outcomes. Yet, despite schools’ potential to provide safe, inclusive spaces, many students still face challenges due to limited awareness, inconsistent policy enforcement, and a lack of trained personnel. This study explores the real-world barriers to diabetes management within school environments and highlights actionable strategies to strengthen support systems, ensuring that students with diabetes can thrive both academically and medically.
