Abstract:
Diabetes mellitus is one of the most rapidly growing chronic diseases in the world and continues to be a major health and economic problem. Despite considerable advances in diagnosis and treatment of the disease, optimal control of blood glucose and prevention of long-term consequences remain major challenges. Recent advances in genetics, artificial intelligence (AI) and precision medicine are transforming our understanding, diagnosis and management of diabetes, and offering new promise for more effective and patient-centred care. Recent advances in diabetes research will be presented, including how genetic insights have improved our understanding of susceptibility and progression of disease, and response to therapy in individuals. It also addresses the growing use of AI and machine learning in diabetes management, such as early risk prediction, real-time glucose monitoring, personalized treatment plans, smart insulin delivery systems and clinical decision-support tools. These breakthrough technologies help healthcare professionals to make better informed decisions and allow patients to play an active role in managing their illness. This presentation emphasizes the need to combine scientific research and technological innovation to define the future of diabetes prevention, diagnosis and treatment
