Metabolic Syndrome and Bariatric/Metabolic Surgery

The term "metabolic syndrome" refers to a set of risk factors that increase your risk of heart disease and other health issues like diabetes and stroke. The biochemical processes involved in the body's regular functioning are referred to as "metabolic." Traits, situations, or behaviors that enhance your risk of acquiring a disease are known as risk factors. By reducing body weight and, more especially, removing extra visceral adipose tissue depots, bariatric surgery improves metabolic syndrome. Many obese patients, including those who do not exactly meet the criteria for morbid obesity, can benefit from metabolic bariatric surgery, which can significantly improve or cure their diabetes. Metabolic surgery can bring blood glucose levels back to normal, allowing insulin medication to be stopped.
