Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism Disorders

The relationship between osteoporosis and bone metabolism disorders and diabetes is increasingly recognized, as poor glycemic control negatively affects bone density and fracture risk. Insulin plays a role in bone formation, and disruptions in glucose metabolism contribute to skeletal fragility. Diabetic patients, particularly those with long-standing disease, face an increased likelihood of osteoporosis and delayed bone healing. Advances in bone research highlight the role of vitamin D, calcium metabolism, and novel anti-osteoporotic agents in mitigating these risks. Emerging therapies, including anabolic bone treatments and personalized nutrition strategies, are being explored to enhance skeletal health. Addressing bone metabolism disorders in diabetic individuals is crucial for reducing long-term complications.
